Calligraphy
Sadegh Tabrizi first started experimenting with artistic variations of calligraphy on ceramics in 1960. Shortly therafter, he continued with this style on paper, canvas, and hide -- as exemplified by the many works below. Well established by the dates of his public display of these works, such as the showing at the Sirous (Cyrus) Gallery in 1972 in Paris, Tabrizi was the first artist to use this style of calligraphy in the abstract forms shown here.
"Such is the art of Tabrizi, who in this case [of calligraphy] may be considered among the most accomplished artists of today." --Michel Tapie, French art critic, 1972. Read more from articles by Michel Tapie [France], Javad Mojabi, [Iran], and Le Monde Magazine.
